After I began going through and improving my home, I realized that there were a few projects that I needed to attend to sooner rather than later. I started going through my place room by room and carefully evaluating the different projects that needed to be completed. It was a lot of work, but the different tasks that I started really paid off in the end. Within a few short months, my home looked incredible and I was really impressed with the differences that I had made. This website is here to help you to choose home projects that will truly benefit your home value.

Innovative Options For Convenient Garage Storage

When people first started to put garages on their homes, these spaces were used to house vehicles. Now, many people have started to use their garages for storing other items, not just their cars. However, there is a bit of a disconnect between the way garages are designed and how they are now used. These big, empty spaces are not terribly conducive for storing boxes, bikes, and other small things, so the items tend to pile up in corners and along walls, making quite the cluttered mess.

Thankfully, there is a solution! Here are some ways to make your garage better suited for storage.

Hanging Racks

Racks that mount to the ceiling and hang down are really good for storing lighter items. You can lift a tote box and slide it into the rack, where it will be above your head and out of the way. Some of these hanging racks are even mounted on a mechanism that drops down, allowing you to load the rack before pushing it back up towards the ceiling.

Wall Hooks

A board that is simply full of hooks provides a simple and convenient storage solution for smaller items. You can mount this hook board on one wall and use it to hang everything from bike helmets to goggles. Every member of the family can have their own row of hooks to use for their own accessories, which will really help keep your smaller things organized.

Between-Stud Cabinets

Another option is to have your builder remove some of the drywall in the areas between wall studs, and then construct a shallow cabinet in this space. This way, the cabinet will not be taking up extra floor space in the garage. It won't be a really deep cabinet, but it should be big enough to store things like spray bottles of herbicides, fishing gear, baseballs and mitts, and the like.

Wall-Mounted Shelves

If you have a little extra floor space along one wall, consider having some sturdy custom shelves mounted to that wall. You can use the shelves to hold everything from tote boxes to lawn care equipment. Leave at least three feet of space above each shelf to ensure you have enough room for larger items.

With the storage solutions above, your garage will begin to look less like a cluttered mess and more like an organized space. Talk to a builder for more innovative ideas.
